NSW: Two generations join WWII vet in march
World War Two veteran PAT O'TOOLE was joined by two younger generations when he marched
in Sydney's Anzac Day parade today.
Mr O'TOOLE, 78, marched with two of his sons, JOHN 40, and FRANK, 35, and two of his
grandsons, BEN, 11, and MATT, 9.
PAT, from Kingscliff, in northern NSW, served in the First Australian Armed Regiment
from 1939-1945 in New Guinea and Borneo where he drove 25 tonne Matilda Tanks.
He says the only way to deal with being at war is to take a day at a time.
He has joined the debate on merging Anzac Day with Australia day, saying Anzac Day
must never be taken away from the veterans.
And he says to keep the spirit of Anzac moving we need our children and grandchildren involved.
