FED: Reith says Labor policies are bizarre

Federal Workplace Relations Minister PETER REITH says a Labor government would allow
a return to the industry-wide strikes of the 1970s.

Speaking in Sydney where federal cabinet is meeting today, Mr REITH has attacked Labor's
industrial relations policy.

He says it's a bizarre policy that would see a return to industry-wide strikes which
undermined Australia's reputation in the 1970s and 80s.

Mr REITH also says individual workplace agreements are working well and that to roll
them back would be a regressive move.

He has blamed the union movement for Labor's industrial policies, saying they have
a disproportionate influence on the party's decisions.

Mr REITH also attacked Mr BEAZLEY'S leadership, saying he doesn't have the strength
to tackle the influence of the union and other powerful figures within the party.
