NSW: Elderly woman assaulted during robbery
An elderly woman has been assaulted during a robbery at her home on the New South Walessouth coast.
The 74-year-old woman was alone in her Nowra home when a young woman knocked on herdoor at about 8.30 pm (AEST) and asked after her grandfather.
When the elderly woman said she didn't know the man, she allowed the young woman intoher unit to use the telephone.
After being asked to leave, the young woman hit the 74-year-old across the back ofher head with a handbag and then hit her in the face, stole a small amount of money andfled.
The 74-year-old is in Shoalhaven Hospital with a fractured cheek and nose, and a damagedright eye.
The attacker is described as in her early 20s, very short, with long hair and a solid build.
